Some jade lovers have reflected that after their emeralds have been played or placed for a period of time, the structure is not as dense as before, and it may be that the wax is gone. I heard that the jadeite on the market is now waxed in all likelihood. Is this waxing good or bad? I will come to answer you today. I hope everyone will like it. I have different opinions to welcome and learn together.
Why waxing?
Waxing is in the process of polishing. In order to make the surface of the finished jadeite smooth and bright, the gloss is beautiful and uniform. The wax is melted into the fine pits or cracks existing on the surface of the jade after polishing to fill the unevenness and make the surface smoother. It also prevents the entry of oil stains.
Waxing practice?
Generally divided into two kinds, one is to put the jade into the melted liquid paraffin soaked; the second is to heat the jade slightly, spray the white wax powder, and then wipe with a felt to let the wax immerse into tiny pores or cracks. The method is different, the principle is the same, that is, the paraffin is infiltrated into the jade. If there is a crack on the surface of the jade, this method makes the crack not visible for a certain period of time! However, after a period of time, the paraffin in the crack volatilizes and the crack comes out.
Are all the jade on the wax?
No. The jadeite with good water and high density can be waxed if it is done in engraving and polishing. The water is good and the density is high, but the jade and the water that are not engraved and polished are not good enough, and the jadeite with low density is generally waxed.
The colorless waxing used for polishing is optimized in the national standard and still belongs to the Jadeite A cargo.
What is immersion?
Dipping wax, also known as "straw wax" or "cooking wax", is to put the polished jade product into a hot paraffin solution for cooking.
In the process of boiled paraffin, jade will also be thermally expanded, and the gap between the jade crystals will increase, and the paraffin will melt into the crystal gap. This is undoubtedly a principle of artificial dyeing of Emerald C goods. So this method is processing, not optimized.
The difference between jade and glaze
The purpose of jade waxing is to optimize and beautify the surface of jadeite, while jadeite waxing is to add wax to the interior of jadeite, which belongs to the treatment of jadeite, which is almost equal to jadeite C. The waxed jade can be issued with an appraisal certificate, but it is determined that the jadeite impregnated with wax cannot be issued with an appraisal certificate.
How to identify?
First, UV fluorescent lamp detection
Second, the person has blue-white fluorescence under the ultraviolet fluorescent lamp, and the ultraviolet fluorescence of the wax-impregnated jade is stronger than the waxed jade.
Third, infrared absorption spectrometer detection
Infrared absorption spectroscopy can better distinguish between two kinds of jadeites: waxing and waxing. But this requires a professional to operate. Whether it is waxing or waxing jade, after a period of time, paraffin will age and affect the quality of jadeite, but the effect of waxing jade is only superficial, while the effect of dipping wax jade is from the inside out.
After the small series, everyone should try to choose a better jadeite when buying, avoid waxing or dipping wax, because it is difficult to distinguish between the two if it is not rich in experience.
